Stained Glass Walks and Talks

Through this summer programme of guided visits, members are given the opportunity to explore some of the hidden treasures of stained glass around the country. Local guides, often practising stained glass artists themselves, lead small groups along a fascinating trail of working studios, town and country churches and often less accessible stained glass sites.


Saturday 28th June - STAMFORD Lincolnshire

Historian Paul Sharpling will  lead a small group in the picturesque and historic town of Stamford in Lincolnshire to view some great stained glass. Once you arrive in Stamford, all sites will be visited on foot.  Itinery as follows:

  • 11:00 Meet at George Hotel, Stamford (nr Station)  
  • 11:20 Visit St Martins Church
  • 11:45 St John's Church
  • 12.30 - 13-45 Lunch anywhere in the town
  • 13:45 Meet again to go to Browne's Hospital to see medieval glass (additional entry fee of £2.50)
  • 15:00 St Georges Church. This was originally the Garter Chapel before it moved to Windsor. C15th glass to see and  good Victorian glass.

Attendance fee £6:00 for members, £8:00 non-members. Payment on the day, cheques payable to 'BSMGP Trust' please.

Good road and rail links N,S E &W. London train departs Kings Cross 9:30 and arrives in Stamford at 11:04
