When you visit bsmgp.org.uk we undertake to respect your privacy and your personal information in accordance with applicable UK law. The following statement explains our policy with regards to your privacy:

  • It is BSMGP policy not to sell the names or personal information relating to its customers to any third party.
  • In some places on the site (e.g. the Forum) you are asked to submit personal information about yourself (e.g. name, email address). By entering your details as requested, you enable BSMGP to reply your messages. Whenever you provide such information, we will treat that information in conformity with the privacy policy stated here. No information other than your name will be posted on the website, and your email address will not be visible to any visitors to the website unless you choose to include it in the body of your message. This information will not be made available to anyone else under any circumstances, unless we are obliged by law to disclose it. However, if you abuse the use of the website by posting defamatory, offensive or otherwise inappropriate content, where we consider that this behaviour is serious and/or continues despite warnings, we can use information available about you to stop such behaviour, including informing relevant third parties.
  • We will hold your personal information on our systems for as long as is necessary to reply to your posting or complete your order and remove it as soon as that the purpose has been met. We will ensure that all personal information supplied is held securely, in accordance with the UK Data Protection Act 1998 and Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003. You have the right to request a copy of any personal information the BSMGP holds about you; please address any request to secretary@bsmgp.org.uk.
  • Our host web server collects and saves only the information customarily logged by web server software. Analysis of these logs for the purpose of monitoring and assessing traffic to our web site does not identify any individual user personally, and we do not try to identify individuals who browse the site.
  • This website does not use cookies, and there are no plans to do so. If for some reason cookies were to be used in the future, a clear statement to that effect would be added to this page.



You can pay for membership subscriptions, events or publications via this website by using your credit or debit card via Paypal, or by printing off the application/order form and sending it to us with your cheque. Although many people are worried about using the Internet for payments, payment using a credit or debit card across the Internet is now as secure as any other transaction. We have taken as many precautions as possible to ensure that your payment will be secure and that no one else can access your card details. We shall use card information and other details you supply to us only to enable us to complete your order. All personal and card information is held securely and for no longer than is necessary for the purpose of processing your payment or refunding payments, or replying to your posting.
