Haptic Optic 1
Float glass and Mica, sandblasted, fused and slumped. This piece was created using a technique of slumping little towers of glass into holes in a plaster bed. The resulting nodules of glass act like miniature lenses and refract background colours off at different angles, creating a dynamic twinkling effect across the surface. At the moment I am particularly interested in the oppositions of positive and negative, presence and void and the ways in which it is possible to create an articulated surface on both sides of the glass simultaneously.
