Images of insects and leaves first inspired by the debris in a swimming pool, has been the theme in my work for some time. Feathers and wings are another. They come together here in this celebration of a cat called Maya. "Maya" has many meanings including "illusion", "divine creative force" and "giver of perception" I have developed a way of working in fine detail on an intimate scale. I use acid etching to create a light atmospheric quality with subtle detail then work in paint and stain and sometimes enamels. On a larger scale I use the same techniques but often using denser, richer colour.
