In a Void
Acid etched & sandblasted float glass, sandblasted "antique" glass, rubber cord. "In a Void" is part of a series looking at glass as a moving element, and as a surface that can be penetrated. It uses the empty spaces within the plane of the glass, the areas between what is normally a static and impermeable membrane, and the relationships between rigid and resilient materials, to explore ideas from the hidden world that lies beyond the conventional. Harry Cardross is the Senior Artist at Goddard and Gibbs Studios, where he has worked since graduating from Central St Martins in 1982. While his Studio work involves diverse styles and influences, his own work lies within the more esoteric areas that are less commonly addressed in glass.
