Conservation reports

Winchester Cathedral Presbytery Clerestory Conservation Report from Holy Well (11mb). This comprehensive document details the conservation of the internationally important stained glass by Thomas of Oxford from the 15th century, described by Charles Winston as ‘the finest painted glass in England’ and 16th-century glass sponsored by Bishop Fox, carried out by the finest European craftsmen from Germany and the Low Countries. It includes art historical analysis and the conservation record.

Jordans Shell House Treatment Report (27mb). This conservation report explains the conservation of a badly vandalized 19th century ‘cottage ornee’ style summer house, with a shell lined interior and Gothic style stained glass, including an eight-sided rooftop lantern.

St Michaels Without Bath  (14mb). A post conservation report for repairs to a single vandalized East Window panel.

Arundel Stained Glass Conservation Report (21mb). The Cathedral Church of Our Lady & St. Philip Howard, Arundel, Sussex. A medium sized report for conservation works including the partial re-leading and repair of the Great Rose Window on the West Front. The stained glass was made for the Victorian French Gothic cathedral in 1873 by the esteemed C19th stained glass workshop Hardman’s of Birmingham.
