Roy Albutt Arts and Crafts Movement publications

Roy Albutt writes and publishes works on the 'Bromsgrove Guild' Arts and Crafts stained glass artists in the Birmingham area. His new work published in summer 2013 is:

Stained Glass Window Makers of Birmingham School of Art
The 12 makers/designers included in this new book from Roy Albutt all trained at Birmingham and were influenced by the Arts & Crafts movement. Henry Payne, after training with Christopher Whall, introduced practical stained glass work to the Birmingham curriculum in 1901. His colleagues Sidney Meteyard, Mary Newill, Bernard Sleigh and Florence Camm were all involved in designing/making stained glass.
Payne’s student Richard Stubington (who succeeded Payne as tutor), A J Davies, Benjamin Warren and Joseph Sanders are all featured, also Yoxall & Whitford and Donald who continued the tradition in the later 20th century. For each, there is information on biography, their training, stained glass work with gazeteer and colour photos, and brief details of other art work. There are also appendices on the Bromsgrove Guild and on the chapel at Madresfield Court.
