David Esler Associate

Stained glass artist, David Esler, was born in 1951, Co. Antrim, Northern Ireland and has been working in the medium of stained glass for over 40 years.

David possesses definite innovative ideas on how to approach commissions; be it ecclesiastical, corporate or domestic. Spiritual narrative, movement, colour and light are important elements to the dynamic of David's individual style of painting along with his emphasis on the quality of his work.  David is working to move the perception of stained glass forward - to see it as an art form moving away from the traditional pictorial image.

David approaches each project with great sensitivity and brings understanding of the medium of stained glass to this area of his work.  Each project is researched thoroughly before creating the initial design.

In terms of ecclesiastic work David believes that, ‘Stained glass within the spiritual context has the potential to be at its best a dramatic, lyrical and an enigmatic art form.’
