The Master Glass Painters Trust invites applicants from students, apprentices and emerging practitioners to attend the Stained Glass Touring Conference in Surrey.

The deadline for applications is 5pm on Thursday 1 June 2023. The successful applicants will be announced on 16 June during the summer lecture at the Art Workers Guild.

This year we will be staying at the University of Surrey from 30 August – 2 September 2023. The Touring Conference includes visits to a varied selection of notable windows and we have expert speakers to help us understand them. It is a valuable study tool and an opportunity to network with other artists, conservators, historians and enthusiast in an informal setting. There is a Conference Dinner on the final night.

As well as the Conference fees of £400 the award will include travel costs up to £100 (receipt needed) and a year’s free membership of the Society, which includes The Journal of Stained Glass (BSMGP Membership package valued at £45).

Primarily aimed at students of stained glass or glass conservation, the award is open to anyone in the early stages of their stained glass career who would otherwise be unable to attend due to the cost. You will need to supply one referee who could be a tutor, studio director or someone who can vouch for your work. Successful applicants will be expected to bring (and use) a sketchbook to record their study.
