Heritage Crafts is the national charity for traditional heritage crafts. Working in partnership with Government and key agencies, they provide a focus for craftspeople, groups, societies and guilds, as well as individuals who care about the loss of traditional crafts skills, and work towards a healthy and sustainable framework for the future.

For the first time we have sponsored an award for the Emerging Stained Glass Worker of the Year award 2026. The closing date for nominations in all categories for the Heritage Crafts Awards is 5pm on 21 August 2026. You can see the full list of awards here.

Award description
Supported by The British Society of Master Glass Painters

This award celebrates an early-career heritage craftsperson (in the first 5 years of their professional practice) who has made an outstanding start to their stained glass career. The award winner will be highly skilled amongst their peers, whilst raising the perceived value of their craft through sharing and awareness raising. They will have given themselves a fantastic chance of achieving long-term success, perhaps overcoming disadvantage or setbacks along the way.

The award is open to practitioners of stained glass window making, glass painting within a stained glass context, and/or stained glass conservation.

Anyone, including the maker themselves, can nominate for this award. Finalists will be expected to attend the high-profile Winners’ Reception in November 2026.
