Keeping the history alive
23 August 2018The original minutes, accounts and official seal for the British Society of Master Glass Painters are kept at Caroline Benyon’s studio in Hampton. The studio is full of historic cartoons and records which Caroline inherited from the workshop of her father, Carl Edwards FMGP. Entering the studio is like stepping back in time.
Surrounded by over a century of stained glass history, Caroline continues the family tradition begun by her father. And she didn’t just inherit her fathers collection of cartoons, books and glass but, more importantly, his knowledge and passion for stained glass. In 2017 Caroline and Tony Benyon completed a commission for St Paul’s Cathedral and in 2018 a two-light window for the Catholic Church of St James in Twickenham was unveiled. Caroline is Chairman of our Society.
