Our Response to HSE

Thank you to all our members who responded to the Health & Safety Executive’s consultation over using lead at work. We know, because you told us, that around a hundred individual members filled in the questionnaire. We appreciate how time-consuming and challenging that task was because we did it too. The submission was informed by those members in England, Scotland and Wales who responded to our own survey. We had 109 submissions from members who have ever worked with lead. Of these, 20 of our members would be suspended from working with lead, if the new regulations come into force. Even one member loosing their livelihood is unacceptable to us.
