The Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST) is a charity dedicated to supporting excellence in British craftsmanship by offering scholarship and apprenticeship funding to talented makers looking to further their training and expand their skills. Since it was founded in 1990 QEST has awarded over £5million to 625 craftspeople working in crafts ranging from stained glass artists to sculpture, thatching to jewellery design and many more. They’re looking to encourage more applications and the next application round will be open 10 January– 3 February 2022. Makers can apply for up to £18,000 to further their training through college courses, vocational training or one-to-one classes with a master craftsperson.

Previous scholarship winners working in stained glass include:
Mel Howse AMGP (https://www.qest.org.uk/alumni/mel-howse/),
Grace Ayson (https://www.qest.org.uk/alumni/grace-ayson/)
and Sophie d’Souza (https://www.qest.org.uk/alumni/sophie-dsouza/).

QEST will hold two ‘How to apply’ sessions on 12 January and 31 January on zoom to give advice and tips on the scholarship application process:
