It is encouraging to see that English Antique Glass have finally decided to make more sheets of mouth blown glass and invest in keeping stock on the shelves. The last surviving UK company to make the beautiful glass has been struggling to sell their sheets of flashed and streaky glass and have concentrated on making glass lamps instead. With low levels of glass on their shelves, artists who travelled to Reddich in the Midlands had been disappointed at the lack of glass to buy.

The price of English Antique has risen sharply but they do offer discounts when buying in bulk so it would be worth sharing orders with others from the stained glass community. Their glass is now stocked at Reading Stained Glass and perhaps other outlets will be found in the future.

We understand that the head glass blower, Walter Pinchers, who has been at English Antique Glass for eleven years, is due to retire soon. Two new apprentices have been taken. We wish them every success.
