We are delighted to announce that applications are open to our members for the Benyon Study Awards for funded places on the 2025 Stained Glass Touring Conference based in Winchester.

The deadline for applications has been extended to 5pm on Friday 23 May 2025. The successful applicants will be announced on 27 June during the summer lecture at the Art Workers Guild.

This year we will be staying at the University of Winchester from 27 – 30 August. The Touring Conference includes visits to a varied selection of notable windows with expert speakers to help us understand them. It is a valuable study tool and an opportunity to network with other artists, conservators, historians and enthusiast in an informal setting. There is a Conference Dinner on the final night.

As well as the Conference fees of £450 (t.b.c.) the award will include travel costs up to £100 (receipt needed).

You need to be a paid up member of the British Society of Master Glass Painters to apply. Membership costs from £55 a year and includes The Journal of Stained Glass. You can join here.

The award is open to anyone who would otherwise be unable to attend due to the cost. We particularly welcome applications from students, trainees, apprentices and emerging artists who might otherwise not consider attending. Successful applicants will be encouraged to bring a sketchbook to record their study. They may be invited to contribute in some way to the conference.

You will need to supply one referee who could be a tutor, studio director or someone who can vouch for your work.
