We were delighted to have a fantastic response of over sixty artists wanting to be involved in the Inspired by William Morris touring exhibition from amongst the almost one hundred artworks currently in the online exhibition.

With space to exhibit 24 panels in our new showcase the selection was very challenging with such a varied and thoughtful array of work to choose from. A panel of experts, including four representatives from Sanderson, our Chairman, Vice-Chairs, Librarian and one of our Vice-Presidents considered all the panels carefully. The selected pieces embody a wide range of work inspired by Morris’ varied creative, social and intellectual achievements and our hope is that they  help inspire a new generation of people to consider and commission stained glass as William Morris did. All works are for sale. A number of reserve panels were also chosen and all these will be exhibited at the Stained Glass Museum during October. Congratulations to all artists for helping to make the online and touring exhibitions so vibrant and exciting for the wider glass and art world.

The exhibition will launch at the International Festival of Glass in Stourbridge 23-26 August 2024 and then move to the Stained Glass Museum in Ely until the end of October. It will transfer to the stunning Rochdale Town Hall until mid February. More venues may be announced later.

The International Festival of Glass is well worth a visit and includes the British Glass Biennale, a showcase of the best of contemporary glass. This year it includes numerous stained glass artists and will feature the awarding of the inaugural Glass Painters and Glaziers Award, which we have helped establish. We hope to see you there to celebrate stained glass!
